If my name was Khan, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan!

Dear King Khan,

Hi! Just thought of sharing a few obvious things with you and your fans.

In India Hindus constitute majority (nearly 80 percent) yet they didn't vote to power the Right Wing Hindu Party JANSANGH till it merged with many other political groups that formed JANATA PARTY in 1977.
Are they (Hindus) idiots!

·         For the last 25 years or so, the three Super Stars of Bollywood are Salman Khan, Amir Khan and your good self. No three Hindu Super Stars ever simultaneously occupied the Mind Space of Hindu-majority country for such a long period.

·         In post-independent India, Muslims, Christians & Sikhs have risen to positions of power including President, Chief Ministers, Field Marshal, etc .And, during worst of communally tense situations, minorities weren’t forced to leave their homes for good except that in Kashmir where the Muslim-majority turned into indulgent mute spectators to the Hindu exodus.

·         In the same state of J&K (December 2014 Assembly Elections), BJP got the highest vote share and emerged as the second largest party with all  the seats it won coming from Hindu-majority Jammu. Its efforts at forming government were slammed as COMMUNAL on the ground that it didn't win a single seat from now -nearly-only-Muslim valley! 

If I were a Khan...

·         But if I were a Khan, I would have taken pride in the ‘idiotic’ Accommodation & Tolerance of Hindus and still have lived as honourably as ever. As a Khan, I would have also batted for:  Arif Mohammad Khan who was dwarfed by Rajiv Gandhi for having opposed the latter succumbing to the fundamentalist Muslims’ pressure to annul the Supreme Court judgement in the Shah Bano case in which a more-than-60-year old lady was awarded immediate and adequate maintenance. The old lady was left to fend for herself as per Sharia norms; Shahid Siddiqui for having said that in Hindu majority India, Muslims were coerced to pay Jazia (votes) through Fear Politics of Vote Bank in the name of Secularism; M J Akbar for having written that the practice of flawed secularism had made the majority Hindus perceive themselves as a minority which might have dangerous implications for future; Salman Rushdie and Taslima Nusreen  who continue to be hounded for their books Lajja & Satanic Verses; and, Amir Khan & RK Hirani whose wonderful film PK has proved a slap on all those who dialled WRONG NUMBERS to prove the supremacy of ‘Priest’ over ‘God’! 

·         As a Khan, I would have hung my head in shame to see that every now and then a Dharmendra officially converted to Islam to marry his Lady Love (Hema Malini) without getting divorce from his first wife (Parkash). How many even Islamic countries have this anti-woman Law?

·         Most of all, I would have shivers through my spine on even the possibility of Hindus copying what the Muslim leadership has to the community and the country by sacrificing Health, Education and the Capacity to Question in the name of Islam; and,  as in post-9/11 US, if a Muslim and a Terrorist meant the same in India which, unlike US, has a long experience of dealing with diversity: three major Faiths were born here, Christianity came to India  much before it reached Europe, and, she became a second home to Parsis fleeing their homeland Iran to escape conversion or death.

·         And, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, I would never ever have liked to be a Khan if it meant compromising with basic principles of Equality, Fraternity and Compassion in the name of Faith.
