Letter to a Kashmiri Muslim Friend of 20 Years

Sub: Ethnic Cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus and Secular Amnesia

Dear Sanam Tasaduq,
Thanks for your posts pertaining to the #EthnicCleansing of #KashmiriHindus in late 1980s and early 1990s.My concerns are of more general nature and are as under:
I am only concerned with facts and the issue of #BJP + Cow are hardly 18-month old and thus make no difference in the whole chain of arguments.
What has changed everything is the mass access to information due to #ICT and it is this IT that has and will change everything.
#SelectiveAmnesia and #SelectiveSensitivity will not work now. People wonder as to why #ISLAM is fast becoming synonymous with #TERRORISM globally and why is it that #Muslims have problems with #non_Muslims or the majority #Sunnis with #minority #Shias or #Khojas to a degree that the fight takes the shape of physical annihilation of the group at the receiving end?

And all this is being seen in the #globalcontext: Why's it so easy to locate powerful
#non_State_actors such as #ISIS #Bokoharam #AlQaida #Taliban in #Islamic_countries?
Why no #democracy in a single Islamic country out of 54? Why so much #intolerance towards non-Muslims?
#Kashmir issue today is seen,  thus, also in the context of the #CollectiveMuslimMind which is,  at least theoretically, not in synch with #nationalism and thus national borders.
Why does ISIS or Bokoharam
violence not attract cries from the Muslim world? Why do they get #recruits from the #middle and #upper_middle_class families?
Today more than ever in the history an average Muslim is seen with suspicion not as an individual but as a member of a community professing a particular religion that is Islam?
No wonder, non-Muslims tend to read Qur'an or Sharia and quote therefrom as never before.
Thanking you again,
CPS.
