O Almighty Allah! Will You Ever Bless Us With Middle Class Among Muslims ?
#AbdulKalam vs #YakubMemon debate has provided an opportunity to the educated #Muslims to confront #Owaisis and #Azams and prove their mettle as the real #middle class. Will they ever?
A similar situation had arisen in late 1980s after the award of maintenance to an abandoned old woman Shahbano (with three daughters to feed) by her husband.
Mr Arif Mohammad Khan, the then Cabinet Minister in the Rajiv Gandhi govt, had strongly come out in support of the Supreme Court judgement. The Owaisis and Azams of those days got the head of Mr Khan, and, Rajiv Gandhi used his brute majority in Parliament to overturn the apex court judgement.
It is an example of the Secular Dance of Democracy that dealt a fatal blow to the equal opportunity provided by the Constitution to all including Muslim women.
But today's situation is different because of TV-Newspaper penetration, 100 crore mobile connections and Social Media.
Armed with all this, will the educated Muslims show the much needed courage to take the Owaisis and Azams head on without any hesitation on universal values of equality and fraternity ?
If they take the escape route of SELF-PRESERVATION as in the past, the country's future in general and the Muslim community's in particular would be ominous.
May God be kind to us and bless the educated Muslims with intellectual and moral courage to come out of their PSYCHOLOGICAL GHETTO to challenge the might of the self-serving Ulema and, expose their complicity with the self-seeking pan-Indian political class(dominated by Hindus for sure) that has used fear politics for votes, a kind of Jazia paid by Muslims for protection from a threat that never was.
