'Bazaru' Chetan Bhagat vs 'Serious' Kashinath Singh

Chetan Bhagat needs to be congratulated for being labelled as BAZARU if it refers to his ability of #liberating_the_young_readers from the #tyranny of the #tastes and preferences of the old.

The #BAZAAR is anyday more #democratic and emancipating than #DICTATORSHIP of any kind including subjecting the #young to reading what is not in synch with their #aspirations.

It is not out of place to recall the #BAZARU #Tulsidas and the #SERIOUS #Rahim Khankhana who was one of the #NAVARATNAS in the court of #Akbar. In fact Tulsi had categorically refused #State_patronage the offer of which was conveyed to him through none other than the very SERIOUS Rahim Khankhana.

Most of the #Akademi_Awardees of today are the equivalents of Rahim in terms of quality and /or reach failing which they wouldn't have got the awards in the first place.

Now about our very own and SERIOUS #Kashinath_Singh whose ability to strike an immediate chord with his #Hindi readers is uncontested.

But his novels, stories and memoirs or essays find a striking resemblance with those of #Chetan_Bhagat in terms of use of language though both write for different audiences(Singh for Hindi and Bhagat for #English).

It is an irony  that the kind of literature that the emerging #Hindi_middle_class_young readers crave for is today coming to them by way of #translations from English(#Amish Tripathi, Chetan Bhagat et al) because the equivalents of #GUNAHON_KA_DEVATA ( #Dharmveer_Bharti) are scarcely found.

Also, the #Bazar_is_not_homogenous. Different interest and age groups constitute different #Publics or Bazars. Intetestingly, while expecting to be lapped up by one of the anticipated Bazars, many authors
#term_the_more_successful_as_BAZARU!

Differently put, it amounts to saying: the more successful is Bazaru and #the_less_successful_is_Serious!
