Sen: A Serial Killer of Academic Freedom Now Poses As Its Only Saviour

Prof. Amartya Sen  favored the ouster of Dr. Subramanian Swamy from Harvard on grounds of his  'unacceptable'  views beyond the realm of Economics which latter had been teaching there for nearly four decades. Is it academic freedom?

Does freedom mean Prof. Sen's privilege to kill the freedoms of others beyond the Congress-Left duet?
His less-than-ethical act has a history to it. In 1969 he had invited the Harvard academic to join Delhi University as Professor but on landing in Delhi Dr Swamy found that the offer was withdrawn because Mrs Indira Gandhi ( the  then PM) was not comfortable with the market-friendly views of Dr Swamy.
The question is: was Prof. Sen unaware of what Mrs Gandhi liked or not? Was a professor too dangerous to be appointed in DU? Was that act an example of ACADEMIC FREEDOM or AUTONOMY Prof. Sen had been beholden to ? Has he ever regretted his offer to a young and budding scholar who had done his Ph. D under Nobel Laureate Simon Kuznets and who had come to India resigning from his job as Associate Professor at Harvard just because he loved his country and wanted to be there?
Here one is not questioning his domain knowledge. Nobel Prize is a testimony to his contribution in the domain.
The question at hand is HOW INSTITUTIONAL has Prof. Sen been when in power either at DSE( Delhi Univ.) or as Chancellor of the Nalanda University or as an independent academic?
The same Dr Swamy was appointed Chairman, Commission on International Trade and Labour by a non-Nehru-Gandhi PM -PV Narsimha Rao - in 1991 and became one of the archtects of the Blueprint of Liberalization which every govt has only put its stamp on election after election.
With this in view, should an academic be allowed to suffer for his vision that
might be of use to the nation but not to the liking of the govt of the day?
What about Prof. Sen getting marching orders from Harvard a la Nalanda?
As an Indian I am as proud of the Nobel Laureate Prof. Sen as anybody on the planet earth would be  but I abhor his uninsitutional acts.
TODAY INDIA DESPERATELY NEEDS TO BE INDIA THAT NOT ONLY SHELTERED THE PERSECUTED FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE BUT ALSO BOASTED OF SIX DIFEERENT SCHOOLS OF PHILOSOPHY, SOME OF WHICH ARE DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO EACH OTHER.
