Urdu is to 'Mini-Pakistans' what Hindi is to Hindustan !

Urdu, as in the erstwhile J&K state of India, is not spoken in any of the linguistic regions of Pakistan (Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Pakhtunawa) but is its official language.
.
Reasons? Urdu, because of its imposed 'Islamic Otherness' associated with the overdose of Arabic and Persian words was artificially linked to the birthplace of Islam (Saudi Arabia) and the Shia Power Centre (Iran); and, was consequently adopted as the language of the undivided India's Muslims irrespective of their natural linguistic regions such as Tamil, Telugu, Bangla, Gujarati, Malayali, etc.
Thus its being Official Language of Pakistan, Indian State of erstwhile J&K  or  Second Language in Bihar, UP and West Bengal is attributable to the Muslims' insistence on displaying a separate identity even in terms of their language.
In terms of the Science of Languages (Linguistics), Urdu is just a style of Khadi Boli Hindi , the style that has more of Persian and Arabic words but has broadly the same GRAMMAR & VERBS.
.
Contrast it with Hindus speaking different languages across the country and identifying with these languages culturally, socially or politically without losing their identity as Hindus. They all have their ancient scriptures in Sanskrit as well as regional mother languages with the latter drawing upon Sanskrit vocabulary wherever necessary.
.
Muslims face real problems here. The Islamic concepts are untraslatable in Indian languages because of Islam's violent exclusionary character as opposed to the Indian Languages that bear the seal of Sanatan Dharma's all encompassing inclusivity.
In view of this challenge, the Muslim elite decided to adopt that style of Khadi Boli Hindi which was laden with Arabic and Persian words; which had developed over centuries of Hindu-Muslim encounters in and around Delhi; and, which travelled with Muslim rulers and religious preachers to other parts of the country including Kashmir, Deccan, Awadh, Bihar and Bengal.
.
In nutshell, operationally speaking, Urdu in India has been fashioned as the Muslim Equivalent of the Hindu Sanskrit just as most Indian Muslims are the descendents of Hindus who were focibly converted to Islam centuries ago.
.
The question is why an Indian language such as Urdu was chosen as a Muslim identifier and not Persian or Arabic?
Firstly,  Urdu was spoken in and around Delhi , and thus was in currency. It just needed to be packed with more and more of Persian and Arabic words.
Secondly, choosing a foreign language as a Muslim identifier and implanting it as such would have been intellectually, culturally and politically more difficult than creating Pakistan!
Thirdly, Khadi Boli Hindi had already served the needs of local cultural connections crucial for daily existential needs since the Delhi Sultanate days on the one hand and, when choked with Persian and Arabic words, the same Hindi could be practically used as the Muslim Equivalent of the Hindu Sanskrit on the other.
Fourthly, Arabic like Sanskrit was not required for daily routine needs and didn't serve as the language of Politics or Business.
.
Thus Urdu is grammatically Hindi, culturally Islamic and politically Muslim. A case of  three-in-one-deception put forward by the Muslim elite, promoted by the English colonists to weaken the Independence Movement, sponsored by Gandhi for the sake of political correctness, and, continued by various governments for the sake of Muslim votes.
.
Symbolically,  Urdu is the linguistic & cultural equivalent of hundreds of 'Mini Pakistans' dotting India's landscape today. To understand it better, just remember that Muslims, like Hindus, living in the different linguistic regions speak their respective regional languages but, unlike Hindus, refuse to accept and register these languages as their own!
